Turning Heads
Marie Cadden
When the ‘what-if’ in men’s eyes
shifts to the daughter at your side –
the fledgling
recklessly at ease in skin-tight skin
bursting newfound power –
concede with grace,
be glad for crumbs of gallantry, flattery.
Surface softens and substance sags
but possibilities unwrinkle
with just one wink.
Poem from Gynaecologist in the Jacuzzi
Marie Cadden reads her poem "Turning Heads" from Gynaecologist in the Jacuzzi (2016)
